NOTICE OF REFUSE COLLECTION DAY CHANGE

Please be advised that effective 11/1/2007, trash and recycling collection service for North Codorus Township will be moved to Wednesday. Penn Waste will collect your area on your regularly scheduled day for the last time the week of 10/29/2007 and will then return to start your new service day on Wednesday, 11/7/2007.

RECYCLING GUIDELINES

Curbside recycling is included in the refuse contract.
Items need to be placed at the curb by 6 AM.

RECYCLE
Clear and colored glass, aluminum cans, bi-metal cans, plastic bottles, and newspapers.

HOW TO RECYCLE
Rinse all the containers. Labels do not have to be removed. Remove lids from all glass and plastic bottles, these can be disposed of with your regular trash.

Follow these guidelines:

Clear and Colored Glass - Food and beverage bottles and jars only. Don't break glass. No window glass, drinking glasses, dishes or light bulbs.

Aluminum Cans - Do not crush cans. No foil, TV trays, pie plates, siding or scrap.

Bi-Metal Cans - Food and beverage cans only. Do not crush cans.

Plastic Bottles - Clear and colored soda bottles. Milk and water jugs. Laundry detergent containers. Quart oil containers - must be empty and clean. Remove all lids. Crush and flatten all plastic bottles.

Newspapers/Magazines/Junk-Mail - Bag or bundle and place on top of recycling bin.

DO NOT RECYCLE THESE ITEMS
Following is a list of "contaminants" we CAN NOT accept in commingled recycling containers. The materials listed below are not acceptable for recycling.

DO NOT put the following items in your recycling container:

NO aluminum foil, pie plates, siding, etc.
NO books
NO ceramics
NO cookware, china, cups or bowls
NO food or liquids
NO garbage
NO hangers
NO light bulbs or light fixtures
NO plastic bags
NO scrap metal, pots, or pans, wire, etc.
NO wax-coated boxes or cereal boxes
NO window glass, plate or mirror glass
NO yard waste, etc.
NO items other than those listed as acceptable for recycling

Contaminated recyclables WILL NOT be picked-up or accepted by your refuse collector. Please prepare your recyclables properly.
Clean materials, and for your safety and ours DO NOT BREAK GLASS.

IMPORTANT - drivers will not pick-up any commingled recyclables in plastic bags.

TRASH TIPS

PLEASE NOTE:
Automobile tires, if removed from rims, may be put out for collection in place of a trash bag - limit is two per week.
Paint cans may be put in with your regular trash.
Cardboard will be collected if bundled, each bundle equals a bag of trash.
Tree limbs or wood pieces shall be no longer than 4 feet and must be tied in bundles, each bundle counts as a bag of trash.

NO BATTERIES accepted in refuse collection.

NO AUTOMOBILE PARTS accepted for refuse collection.

NO CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS Sheetrock, cement, roofing shingles etc. are NOT allowed to be placed out for refuse collection.

Freon If you have a large item containing Freon (refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier or an air conditioner), you must call the Township Office in the A.M. and give your name, location and what item you are putting out.
